This dissertation investigates the nature and scope of philanthropic CSR
initiatives and their impact on local communities. Specifically, the study evaluates the
effectiveness of Marks and Spencer’s philanthropic CSR initiatives in South Wales.
Utilizing a qualitative research design and secondary data analysis from peer-reviewed
journals, academic articles, company reports, press releases, and government
publications, the study’s findings indicate that philanthropic CSR initiatives engage
various stakeholders, including companies, local communities, non-governmental
organizations, and government agencies
